Corona Elementary Take Drill Team State Championship
On April 5, 2008, Corona Elementary took State Championship for their outstanding drill team. A 5th grade student wrote Ms. Terri Arnold, Local District 6 Director, describing the event. Below is her account:
Dear Mrs. Arnold,
We went to Sharp International, Knott’s Berry Farm State Championship – Buena Park California on April 5th 2008. We tried our best to win. When we finished dancing Mrs. Lopez, our coach, took us to the seats in the theatre.
When a team name Hidden Springs was announced, we were competing against them. There were special events which are drill down, best kicks and toe touches. In drill down Nancy R. won 1st place and Astrid Q. won 2nd place. Then when the special events finished it was the Award Ceremony, so they called “all coaches, captains and co-captains go back stage.” We all went to the back of the stage. When they were giving out spirit stix, they told us to come to the stage and then we told different groups good luck. We said, “Thank you” to our coaches.
They gave us 1st place - the score was 81.25. Later they gave us a trophy meaning over all scoring, which was over 80. They also gave us the big trophy which was for the Masters Trophy and State Championship with a Banner.
Sincerely,
Samantha
